Selectmen maintain plow contract, approve higher salt costs for winter

Board of Selectmen · Meeting of August 24, 2026

NH SANDOWN — Sandown Selectmen hold plow rates steady while approving higher salt costs. The board voted 5-0 to maintain the winter maintenance and snow removal contract at 2025-2026 rates, authorizing Public Works Director Rich O'Hanley to accept new Morton's pricing of $75.42 per ton for Bulk Safety Salt and $95.08 per ton for Bulk Blizzard Wizard. O'Hanley expects at least 14 trucks on roads this winter with prior-year drivers returning; the 2009 backhoe remains out of service due to rust.

Town Administrator Lynne Blaisdell briefed the board on 2027 wage planning, with Social Security cost-of-living adjustments projected at 3.5 to 3.8 percent.
