Planning Board advances zoning amendments to March ballot

Planning Board · Meeting of January 6, 2026

NH SANDOWN — Sandown Planning Board advances zoning amendments to March vote with late modification. The five-member board unanimously approved amendments updating residential accessory dwelling unit provisions and lot-access standards for Class VI highways while substantially modifying a third amendment that would have added hospitality uses to the Business District after an hour of public comment from residents concerned about pace and implications. The board voted to advance only the portion of Amendment Z-3 that shifts land-use authority from the Board of Selectmen to the Planning Board.

Town Engineer Steve Keach described zoning ordinances as "living documents" that evolve as application gaps emerge.
